Psychology
Supporting Young People and Adults to Thrive
Our psychologists work with people across all stages of life, providing assessment and therapy for a broad range of mental health concerns.
Using evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual, we support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship concerns, stress, burnout, school refusal and life transitions.
Our goal is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help people develop practical skills, build resilience and create meaningful, lasting change.
Exercise Physiology
Supporting both physical and mental wellbeing through movement
Our Exercise Physiologists help people improve strength, mobility, confidence and overall wellbeing through individually prescribed exercise programs.
Services may support people living with chronic pain, injury, disability, chronic health conditions or mental health concerns, recognising the strong connection between physical activity and psychological wellbeing.
Programs are tailored to each individual's goals, fitness level and medical needs.
Group Programs
Learning, growing and connecting together
Our evidence-based group programs provide opportunities to develop practical skills in a supportive environment alongside others experiencing similar challenges.
Throughout the year we offer groups focusing on emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, social confidence and resilience for children, adolescents and adults.
Group programs combine education, skill development and practical strategies that participants can apply in everyday life.
Speech Pathology
Helping children build confident communication skills
Our Speech Pathologists support children experiencing challenges with speech, language, literacy, fluency (stuttering) and social communication.
Working collaboratively with families, therapy focuses on developing practical communication skills that support children at home, at school and within their everyday lives.
Sessions are engaging, strengths-based and tailored to each child's individual needs.
Walk and Talk
Therapy beyond the consulting room
For some people, talking while walking outdoors feels more natural than sitting face to face in a therapy room.
Walk and Talk Psychology combines traditional evidence-based therapy with the benefits of gentle movement and time in nature. Sessions are available when clinically appropriate and may help people feel more relaxed, improve emotional regulation and make difficult conversations feel easier.
Walk and Talk is one of several ways we offer therapy and is always tailored to each client's individual needs and preferences.

- Case formulation and diagnostic clarity
- Evidence-based interventions including CBT, ACT, DBT and Schema Therapy
- Risk assessment and ethical decision-making
- Documentation
- Professional boundaries and complex presentations
- Sustainable private practice development

Karen works collaboratively with her supervisees, providing feedback while supporting reflective practice. Her aim is that you leave supervision clearer in your thinking, more confident in your decisions and grounded in ethical, evidence-based care.
Supervision is available in-person in Brisbane or online across Australia.

Outdoor Therapy Supervision and Training
Nature-Based Therapy | Walk and Talk | Adventure Therapy
Brisbane in person and Australia-wide via Telehealth
Karen Breedon is a Clinical Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor who provides specialised supervision and training for psychologists who would like support to integrate outdoor and nature-based therapy into their clinical work.
Outdoor therapy requires more than clinical competence. It requires structured risk management, ethical clarity and operational systems that ensure safety, sustainability and clinical integrity.
Karen works with:
- Psychologists introducing walk-and-talk therapy into private practice
- Clinicians developing adventure therapy or holiday programs
- Supervisors overseeing practitioners delivering outdoor work
- Practices expanding into multidisciplinary, nature-based service models
Supervision and mentorship may include:
- Assessing clinical suitability for outdoor sessions
- Environmental and dynamic risk assessment frameworks
- Informed consent, documentation and insurance considerations
- Ethical decision-making in non-traditional settings
- Translating CBT, ACT, DBT and Schema Therapy into outdoor contexts
- Structuring group-based outdoor programs
- Developing multi-day therapeutic hikes and retreat models
- Operational systems for sustainable program delivery
Karen’s approach is grounded in evidence-based psychological models and real-world implementation through Sunrise Peak Psychology and Adventure Therapy in Brisbane. Her supervision integrates clinical rigour with practical application, ensuring outdoor work remains therapeutic rather than recreational.
Outdoor therapy can be deeply impactful when delivered with structure and clear clinical reasoning. Without these foundations, risk increases and therapeutic depth is compromised.
Supervision is available individually or as structured training intensives, either in Brisbane or online across Australia.
Enquiries can be directed to [email protected] with a brief outline of current practice and intended outdoor service model.
Narrative Walks
We currently do not have any Narrative Walks planned for 2026 at this stage - expressions of interest are welcome.
Narrative Walks is an inclusive program that welcomes individuals of all genders and ages. It takes place within the scenic Toohey Forest, specifically along a designated section. The walk begins at the Toohey Forest Picnic Area in Nathan and participants embark on a roughly 5 km journey towards the Mt Gravatt Lookout. At the lookout, we pause to rest, enjoy lunch (supplied), and then proceed to complete the 5 km return route.
The main focus of the walk is to address a specific issue that each participant identifies beforehand. Throughout the walk, we also explore and develop various skills, such as understanding and managing our thoughts, being fully present in the moment, recognising sources of support, and being aware of our emotions. Additionally, the walk provides an opportunity for physical exercise and a sense of achievement. It's a wonderful experience that allows participants to connect with nature and themselves, fostering personal growth and well-being.
For further information and to express interest in an upcoming walk, please contact Sunrise Peak Psychology via the contact button.
